Mili's art work explores haptic sensibilities in passing moments and everyday banality in search of ambiguities. Her video work constitutes appropriation of images and sounds gleaned from the everyday social environment into image composites that evoke the psychological realm: altered sense of space and duration, transience of everyday life and ruptures in cross-cultural memories. Her performative work brings about shifts in social and interpersonal relations based around banal activities such as showering, cooking and eating. Her recent attempts at multimedia installations focus on interactivity and intimate engagement with the viewer.
Mili is a recipient of the University at Buffalo Gender Institute Arts Award, and the New York State of Council on Arts Video Regrant towards creating video works that have been screened at numerous symposiums, festivals, and exhibit venues.
Originally from Nepal, Mili is currently based in Buffalo, where she recently completed her MFA program in Media Art Production at the State University of New York at Buffalo. She freelances in web, media, photo and print designs, and and occassionally teaches media and digital art workshops for children at Squeaky Wheel and Media Resources.
